Molester says sentence could ruin his business

The owner of a Lower Nazareth Township ice cream stand claims his three-month sentence for molesting a 12-year-old girl could ruin business.

In Northampton County Court on Friday, Michael Yavorski’s lawyer said The Spot, off Route 191, could be forced to close forever because of the negative attention his client has received.

“The collateral consequences for Mr. Yavorski here are tremendous,” defense attorney Scott Wilhelm said in a hearing asking for the sentence to be reduced.

Iran accused the U.S. on Friday of using “forged documents” and relying on subterfuge to make its case that Tehran is trying to build a nuclear weapon, according to a confidential letter obtained by The Associated Press.

The eight-page letter – written by Iran’s chief envoy to the U.N. nuclear agency in Vienna – denounces Washington’s allegations against the Islamic Republic as “fabricated, baseless and false.” The letter does not specify what documents Iran is alleging were forged.

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe has the swine flu and officials have advised other South American leaders who met with him at a summit of the infection, authorities said Sunday.

The 57-year-old Uribe began feeling symptoms Friday, the same day as a meeting of South American presidents in Bariloche, Argentina, and he was confirmed to have swine flu after returning home, Social Protection Minister Diego Palacio said.
